Whanganui Festival of Cultures - Fringe Festival 2019
Our Multicultural Scripts Exhibition & Our Multicultural Family Project.

On behalf of the Whanganui Festival of Cultures Committee Jacqueline currated and commissioned works on these two projects.

The Multicultural Scripts was about finding people in the community who spoke and wrote in another language and script then inviting them to create an artwork using the script and words of their other language in order to celebrate the diversity of languages within the city. The local International Women's Group and a selection of high school aged International Students were this main contributors to the 2019 project. The impact of this project was both beneficial to the maker and the viewer. There is a plan to repeat this project often.

The Our Multicultural Family project is a semi-permanent public art installation commissioned for our community. This is a project that can be expanded and it will ultimately offer a global community of stand alone figures which reflects our diversity in a fun and colourful way.

I Am Eleven: family interactive film screening October 2019.

On behalf of the Whanganui Festival of Cultures Committee Jacqueline planned and offered this FREE to the public family screening of the film I am Eleven.

Whanganui is a Welcoming Community; that means we have an action plan set forth to be welcoming to everybody including newcomers to town. When we think about new things we can do as part of the Whanganui Festival of Cultures we look for activities that encourage inclusiveness. A big part of this is how we embrace our differences and value the unique aspects of all the different cultures in Whanganui.

Interactive activities that help reveal and embrace our commonalities and differences while disrupting assumptions, other activities that encourage ideas on reaching out across national borders and opportunities to express ones individuality were all part of this event. The food was from multiple ethnic cuisines sourced directly from local business owners.
Whanganui Multicultural March 2019
Three Events to Build Cultural Competency and a Newcomer Welcome in this Community
Jacqueline was contracted by the Multicultural Council of Rangitikei/Whanganui to create a series of events around the International Day for the elimination of racial discrimination in March.

The series of event began with a Whnganui welcome tour, then there was the main feature event Race Unity Day and for the 21st of March a special screening of the documentary Human Flow. The atrocity of the shooting in Christchurch on the 15th of March affected the purpose and the tone of the Race Unity Event and it triggered a fourth March Event the immediate Friday after with a special Silent Peace Vigil held for remembrance.

Artists Open Studios Whanganui 2014 - 2018
Twin Kilns Gallery @ Bricksticks 2017 & Jacquifire Studio my home based work space 2018.
For this event Jacqueline spent a few years working as a treasurer, budget and bookkeeper, for the Artists Open Studios Whanganui Trust (2014-2016) before participating as an Artist in 2017 and 2018

"Working with Jacqueline on the AOS accounts and budgets is a delight. She is professional, personable, organised, detailed, calm, thorough, knowledgeable and so supportive in a manner that always feels collegiate at all times. Her positive outlook and ‘can do,’ calm approach is much appreciated. Jacqueline’s ability to explain complex matters of accounts, timelines and budgets was essential on handover. Jacqueline enjoys a challenging task and being efficient. Our annual accounts were readily accepted by our auditor." AOS Chairman, Ross Fallon.
